St. Joachim Catholic Church Wedding. Mary & Elijah’s Traditional Filipino Wedding.

Modern downtown wedding

Mary & Elijah were married on a beautiful fall day in October surrounded by so much support and affection from friends and family. This incredible couple’s special day was full of beautiful Filipino wedding traditions and culture, lots of laughter, emotion and celebration. Plus a little art and a lot of love!

Their ceremony included many Filipino wedding traditions including incorporating important guests as wedding Sponsors, the coin, veil and cord ceremonies and the lighting of the unity candle. Elijah also chose to wear the traditional groom’s attire of the Barong, a lightweight shirt traditionally worn for formal events.

“Lauren was so great to work with! She did our engagement and wedding photos. My husband and I have never done any photo shoots before so we were a little nervous about our engagement photos, but Lauren made us feel really comfortable with her, and we got a chance to bond with her. She is an amazing person! The engagement photos were stunning! It’s been a year since then and I still look at them every week!

Now onto planning our wedding day photos! Lauren was super super helpful with choosing photo locations, even going as far as scouting one of the locations to make sure I was happy with the background!

Day of the wedding, Lauren was with us all day, from getting ready to getting rowdy! Our wedding was full of traditions, and she captured all of em, perfectly! She was such a joy to work with! Everyone loved her!

My husband’s words:
Lauren’s photographs captured the nuances and the grandeur of our most special day together. When we first looked at our wedding photographs we were eased back into the warmth of nostalgia – a most beautiful fleeting day – documented with the care, sentiment and artistry of our photographers. I know we will feel this way every time we happen upon them in our journey. From the bottom of our hearts – thank you.

Thank you for blessing us with your talent!”

Jennifer & Blake. Millcreek Ravine Engagement Shoot.

MillCreek Ravine Engagement Session

It may have been chilly these two took it in stride and I couldn’t love this session more! I had such a fun Millcreek Ravine engagement shoot with Jennifer & Blake in the fall. Also, I just can’t get over how cute Meeko is!

If you’ve never been photographed by a professional photographer you may be unsure of what to expect. The engagement session helps to get those nerves out of the way before the big day. Most of my couples remark after the shoot that they thought they would feel really awkward and stiff but that in fact they felt comfortable, relaxed and had a great time with us. I love hearing that! Stephanie & Hareishun. Hindu Wedding at the Edmonton Convention Centre.

Edmonton Hindu Wedding

What an incredible experience Stephanie & Hareishun’s amazing two-day Hindu wedding at the Edmonton Convention Centre was! Seeing the traditions woven into each day, the beautiful connections, not only within each family but between the bride and groom’s families and above all the love and dedication between the newlyweds was incredible! Saturday’s breathtaking Hindu wedding ceremony was a grand and blessed affair that was so moving to capture. Sunday’s reception blew the top of the venue! All the guests, and of course the music-loving couple, were on the dance floor until the very end of the night. Chanting “one more song” at the DJ only worked a few times!

Thank you Stephanie & Hareishun for choosing us to be a part of your wedding!

Can’t say enough good things about our fun session with Sasha & Brett! We explored the Edmonton River valley and enjoyed the breathtaking colours it was displaying. Edmonton Scottish Wedding

This day was full of so many incredible, fun moments. From the emotional first look, to the beautiful ceremony, to the bellydancer performances at reception and the dance party that tore up the floors at The Country Lodge! And of course, another highlight was the wedding party’s processional lead by a bagpiper, through the streets of downtown Edmonton, from All Saints Anglican Cathedral to Sherlock Homes Pub !

This is what the couple had to say about their special day “One of our favourite parts was being led by Alastair with the bag pipes in down town to Sherlock’s after the ceremony. We love the bagpipes and walking with our wedding party was definitely a cherished moment. We also loved the first look, it was really special to have a moment between us and appreciate each other before getting wrapped up in the big day. We also enjoyed tearing up the dance floor, watching Leslie the belly dancer, and playing around with the the sparklers at night!”

Carmen & Zach. Downtown Edmonton Wedding.

Downtown Edmonton Wedding

SO pleased to be sharing Carmen & Zach’s downtown Edmonton wedding from this summer! Carmen is bubbly and strong. Zach is warm and funny. Together they are one of the kindest and most fun couples I’ve had a chance to photograph. I was excited to hear they wanted a fully urban style photo session so we wandered around downtown Edmonton with their crew after a truly magical ceremony at Greenland Garden Centre. The perfect day ended with an all out dance party at the Matrix Hotel!

Carmen had this to say about her wedding day: “My favourite moment of Our Wedding… Hmm, well besides the obvious of marrying the love of my life of course I would have to say how blessed we were with perfect weather. After a summer of non stop rain, August 17th was an actual ray of sunshine. The day was gorgeous, the garden was lush, and our families were joyous, we couldn’t have asked for a better Wedding Day! We were all on cloud nine truly having the time of our lives; from the rush of saying I do, to having Lauren and her team make us feel like models adventuring around Downtown Edmonton for our photo’s right down to the family dance battles at the end of the night. Every part of our day was filled with love and non stop giggles, it was no short of magical! ”

Woodland and Wildflower Wedding

An unforgettable wedding with Jill & Nathan at Woodland + Wildflower Weddings! Nothing stopped this day from being perfect from beginning to end. Not even the torrential rain that delayed their ceremony. More than once it had us running for cover but the sun came out in full force in the end and shined for the whole of their I Do’s. We were then treated to a beautiful night for their open-air reception. So happy to have been able to photograph this beautiful couple and capture their laid-back wedding day at this gorgeous location!

Beautiful photos

Amanda & Ryan. Glen Park Hall Wedding.

Fun Edmonton Wedding Photographer

I am so thankful to have been a part of Amanda & Ryan’s wedding day in early October. After some chilly outdoor photos with the wedding party, we enjoyed a beer at Mercer’s Tavern and then headed out to Leduc for a beautiful ceremony and a super fun reception at Glen Park Hall. I couldn’t have asked for a better couple for my last fall wedding.

Amanda told me that one of her favourite moments was seeing Ryan for the First Look. “It was nice to be able to share that moment with Ryan in private”.

It was a beautiful day for October (and the leaves were absolutely stunning) but it’s alway nice to warm up inside for a bit. I suggested we head to Mercer’s Tavern to relax before heading to Glen Park Hall. The couple really enjoyed the chance to unwind after photos with some of their favourite people.

Kiran & Eric. Edmonton Fusion Wedding.

Edmonton Sikh and Christian fusion wedding

We were so grateful to have been a part of Kiran & Eric’s incredible Edmonton Fusion wedding. Although Kiran is originally from Edmonton these two, along with many of their guests, traveled from the states to be wed here. We were treated to four days full of traditional pre-wedding events, 2 ceremonies (one Sikh, one Christian ceremony) and an amazingly fun party to celebrate this incredible couple!

Eric shared a little about the wedding and their love story: “Kiran and I have quite an interesting story – she is from Edmonton, Alberta, and I am from Detroit, Michigan. We grew up in two different countries and cultures, we met in New Zealand in 2007, and we have both lived in Arizona for the past five to six years. As a result of all of this cobbled background story, we had a relatively complicated wedding in a relatively obscure location, with a geographically diverse guest list. My favorite part was seeing so many important people from our pasts in the same place at the same time – it will certainly never happen again. Sure, some of Kiran’s friends and family lived right down the street from our wedding events, but many did not! People from all over Canada, America, and even India traveled many miles to be with us during our celebration, and it meant a lot. Several people who would never have known one another were brought together because of our wedding, and it was very surreal to watch. Kiran and I are happy to have found each other, but we also know that we have been surrounded by amazing people for our entire lives, and we were so happy to celebrate with them.”

Kiran shared some of her favourite moments with me: “There were so many amazing things about our wedding, so it is hard to pick just a few moments that were my favorite. Besides the obvious of being able to marry Eric (not once but twice) surrounded by our family and friends from all over the world, I think my favorite moments were watching our family and friends embrace our very different cultures. For Eric and his family (and many of our guests), they had never been to an Indian wedding before. In preparation for the wedding, we watched my cousin’s wedding video, but obviously the real deal was very different. On the other side, my parents had never participated in a Christian ceremony. Both of our families did a wonderful job handling the responsibilities that came with two wedding ceremonies and many other pre-wedding events. I am so happy with how everything turned out, and feel so honored that so many wonderful people joined in our four-day celebration. ”

Kind Words. Edmonton Wedding Photographer Reviews.

Edmonton wedding photographer reviews blog post

I photographed so many incredible weddings this past year and got a chance to work with many awesome couples! All who are beautiful inside and out. One of the best parts of being a wedding photographer is hearing from my Brides and Grooms about their wedding photography experience after the big day. When they share their kinds words with me it truly makes my heart happy. Here are some of my favourites Edmonton wedding photographer reviews from 2017:

wedding photos at Yellowhead Brewery

“Lauren is absolutely amazing! She is fun, friendly, and a complete professional to work with. I did a lot of research on Edmonton photographers prior to meeting with Lauren. One of the most important things for our wedding was to make sure that we had beautiful, timeless photographs that my husband and I could look back on over the years and remember our special day. We definitely ended up with them! My husband and I were both very nervous to be in front of the camera, but Lauren provided perfect direction and had us feeling comfortable and at ease in no time! She helped us plan & choose locations for an amazing engagement session on a beautiful autumn evening.  The photos turned out amazing.

On our wedding day, Lauren’s calm presence really helped keep me us ease.

She even rescued us when our limo driver missed a turn and got lost! She captured every moment of the day exactly how we remembered it. It was also awesome having her stay later into the reception to capture everyone’s happy faces on the dance floor! We have received so many compliments on how beautiful & fun all of our wedding photos turned out. They are even more perfect than we could have imagined – we could not be happier! Choosing Lauren as our photographer was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Her pricing is extremely competitive for the length of time we had her (& second shooters) on our wedding day, as well as the high-quality photos! My husband and I HIGHLY recommend Lauren Hannah Photography!”

You can see more of Vanessa & Will’s wedding HERE!

“Lauren (and her co-shooter) were awesome! We had a destination wedding, so we weren’t able to meet with her in person until the day of the wedding, but got to know her through webcam chats and phone calls. She did a great job with our ceremony and reception and took us to some beautiful places for additional photos. She was easy to work with and our photos came out beautifully, all at a very reasonable cost. We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a photographer.”

Check out Mike & Angie’s wedding!

Wedding photos at MKT in Edmonton

“Lauren and her partner are absolutely fabulous! We met them at our friend’s wedding, and quickly realized how professional and yet friendly and relaxed they were. What I couldn’t have known then is how wonderfully talented she is too!! The creativity and skill is off the charts. You will not regret hiring her for your wedding, I promise you! And her prices are so reasonable that you can capture more of your special day!

We did a destination ceremony for our wedding, but were throwing a reception dinner & party for our friends and family back at home on New Years Eve too. At first we weren’t going to hire a photographer for the reception but now I am so glad we asked Lauren. Neither my husband or I are naturally photogenic – we usually seem posed and awkward! Lauren made us instantly relaxed and comfortable, capturing the true emotions between us.

During the party, they were so much fun! At times, they blended right in so people hardly knew they were there, and then there were others where it felt like paparazzi on the dance floor! It was absolutely perfect and they knew exactly how to flow with and capture the energy of the room. Every time I thought “Oh I should get a picture of this moment” I would no sooner think it and there they were already. They got the most beautiful, natural pictures of us and all our loved ones and friends. I am so grateful that they were willing to give up their New Years Eve to work with us! We had such a great time with them and now have wonderful keepsakes to remember it by.”

“I can’t say enough good things about Lauren!! She is an incredibly talented photographer but on top of that, she is so much fun, so personable and just an amazing all around person.

My Husband and I researched many photographers before making our final decision and after meeting with her, we felt so comfortable and knew we had made a great decision. And after seeing our beautiful photos from our engagement session, we knew 100% we made the right decision!!

Any photographer who can get amazing pictures of a couple while riding a Harley down a highway is obviously good at what they do!

Lauren and her assistant went above and beyond the entire day not only to capture special moments but also to ensure everything was perfect. She has such an eye for detail and was so much fun to be around that day!! I can’t say enough good things about her and would recommend her 100%, believe me you won’t be sorry you chose her!! Our sneak peek photos of our wedding day made me cry, they’re INCREDIBLE!! I can only imagine what the rest will look like!! Best photographer ever!”

We had an awesome session with her for our engagement shoot and even involved our pup! Lauren and her team were amazing on our wedding day. They were on time and super professional.

Would recommend her for anyone looking for intimate, candid, fun, great pics!”

“Lauren photographed my wedding in October 2017. She was extremely professional and reliable from start to finish, while also being super fun to work with.

Both my husband and I agreed that the best part of our day was bridal party photos with Lauren. It was fun, relaxed, and the only totally stress-free part of the day. Lauren was easily my favourite professional that I worked with on my wedding, and our pictures exceeded my expectations. I would recommend her again and again!”

“We hired Lauren for our wedding after one of our friends in the area had her wedding photos done by Lauren and we loved the way she had captured their day. Lauren was very professional to deal with and was a great help in dealing with us via email as we were living overseas during the wedding planning stages. During the pre-wedding she asked for suggestions on photos we would like to capture and kept this in mind to ensure we didn’t get caught up in the moment of the day and miss out on these opportunities. During the wedding Lauren and her assistant were great to work with and we had a blast going to the various sites to take pictures. The prints came out better than we had expected and they were delivered to us in the promised time-range on our contract.

Overall, I would recommend Lauren to anyone looking for a fun-loving photographer who has a great eye for photography.”

Fun Edmonton Wedding Photographer

“Lauren did an incredible job with our wedding photography. We hired her for the day, and actually only met with her once prior to the ceremony during an insanely busy moment in our lives. She was attentive, patient, and she immediately understood what type of photos we were hoping for. This was clear when we received the photos. She was able to capture amazingly candid shots of many of our family and friends and did a great job documenting the day. She and her co-shooter were very easy and flexible to deal with throughout the day. Lauren also was very much willing to work within our budget constraints and desires. We would without hesitation recommend her.”

Emily & Anthony. Winter Wedding at Sherwood Park Log Cabin.

Sunset photo of bride and groom

I got the chance to capture Emily and Anthony’s winter wedding in Sherwood Park. So many things made this wedding awesome: A great venue at the Sherwood Park log cabin, super stylish couple, beautiful details and of course there was the killer reception that had everyone dancing well into the night. But mostly this day was so great thanks to the couple themselves. Emily and Anthony are kind, fun loving and an incredible match.

Mike & Angie’s Wedding at Rimrock Resort and Day After Adventure Session in Banff

Angie & Mike traveled all the way from Illinois to be wed amongst Banff’s breathtaking landscapes. Their wedding at The Rimrock Resort Hotel was so romantic and it was an absolute pleasure to be a part of it!

The couple and I had only chatted over skype a couple of times before the wedding so I was excited to finally meet them in person on the big day. I was pleased to find they are one of the most kind and warm twosome I’ve been able to photograph. They also have an incredible sense of humour and are incredibly fun! Each of them was quite relaxed that morning. They were just happy to be enjoying every moment of the awesome day in this spectacular setting.

Robin & Mark. Jasper Engagement Session on Wilcox Pass Hike.

Jasper engagement session on Wilcox Pass Hike

I met Robin & Mark in Jasper for an amazing engagement session in the mountains! This Jasper engagement session was epic! We started the session by hiking the beautiful Wilcox Pass near Columbia Ice Fields to get to some amazing views and gorgeous landscape. Robin and Mark were engaged on this very hike on recent camping trip so this spot is not only beautiful but has special meaning to them as a couple. It was so great to hear about their engagement story and relive that with them as we hiked the very same spots they had on that special day.

Bandana the Dog. Rescue Dog Story.

FunEdmontonWeddingPhotographer

For those of you that follow me on social media, you know that my rescue dog Bandana is very close to my heart and a big part of my life. And if you do follow me on social media, I apologize because you’ve been bombarded with photos of him almost daily! However, Bandana came into my life unexpectedly and because it is his birthday, or rather his “adoption day,” today I thought I would share the story of how he came to Canada and, well, came to live with me.

rescue dog wear bandana and birthday hat

There was still snow on the ground last March because, similar to what happened this year, in Edmonton we were “Blessed” with a second winter. My lucky sister was on vacation in Nicaragua and one day I got a phone call from her all teary and upset. She told me there was a dog there who had been following her around and how sweet he was. She has two dogs herself so it broke her heart to see this dog without a home. Of course I was sympathetic. Being a huge animal lover it always pains me to see that too. But I didn’t expect her to ask “well, will you take him?” I was a little shocked that she suggested that I bring this dog all the way from Central America to Canada but at the same time I felt I couldn’t say no.

rescue dog living in Nicaragua

Of course she said she would have to find this dog again tomorrow if she wanted to, in fact, rescue him. She had met somebody who could put her in contact with the local rescue group but that it would be her job to actually catch him in order to start the process of taking him home. It all hung on whether she could actually find him the next day before she had to board the ferry in order to catch a flight to another island.

A rescue dog walks up path

Fast forward to the next afternoon and I get a text from her saying that she had lost him and that she would now have to head to the ferry without him. That’s when I knew I really wanted him deep down inside because my heart sank. Even though I haven’t even seen a picture of him he already felt like he was my dog. Lo and behold with literally minutes to spare before they have to catch the ferry they managed to slip the leash around him. Well, I can’t say a leash — it was just a piece of rope. So began the long and treacherous process of bringing him to Canada. It started with a visit to the vet followed by ferry ride and a very long flight all the way from Nicaragua.

rescue dog wearing a red bandana walks on log

When he finally did arrive we had to pick him up from a huge cargo building and he was visibly traumatized from not only a long journey but then being stuck in this loud echoey building in a crate. At home he kept making these little whining sounds once we had taken him out of the crate. We thought he was quite upset or confused but now we know that this is his way of talking to us and telling us that he is extremely happy. It’s pretty funny.

rescue dog lays on dog bed

A few weeks after we got him we discovered another one of his quirks. One evening I found him in a hamper that was on the floor with a few towels in it. I thought that was pretty hilarious. Little did I know that he would take up this hamper as his permanent place and that he would literally sleep in it every night.

Here is a photo (taken on my phone) of him in smiling in his hamper.

rescue dog sleep in hamper

From the very beginning he came with an array of medical problems that we didn’t know about until he arrived. This included finding out that he had a cancerous lump on his foot. We thought he was done for but he has strived through all the challenges and came out on the other end. He is also a very timid guy and so there is lots of work ahead with training which has been, in fact, a lot of fun (I am a big nerd for agility and dog training).

rescue dog stands on top of mountain

It’s been stressful and not cheap and some people may not understand sticking with it but this little guy has stolen my heart and become my best friend, running partner, and the source of a lot of laughter. I love the quote that says ‘Until one has loved an animal a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.”
