“Our favorite parts of the day were all the little moments where things didn’t go quite according to plan and where we really got to have authentic moments of connection with each other and our guests. We had made the decision before we even started planning our wedding that we weren’t going to sweat the small stuff and to keep our focus on the bigger picture and why we were actually getting married in the first place. Those little moments allowed us to choose to remember that we weren’t getting married to have the perfect wedding but because we want to spend the rest of our lives together. And sometimes life just happens and you need to roll with it.” -Jessica & Ben

Kiran & Eric. Edmonton Fusion Wedding.

Edmonton Sikh and Christian fusion wedding

We were so grateful to have been a part of Kiran & Eric’s incredible Edmonton Fusion wedding. Although Kiran is originally from Edmonton these two, along with many of their guests, traveled from the states to be wed here. We were treated to four days full of traditional pre-wedding events, 2 ceremonies (one Sikh, one Christian ceremony) and an amazingly fun party to celebrate this incredible couple!

Eric shared a little about the wedding and their love story: “Kiran and I have quite an interesting story – she is from Edmonton, Alberta, and I am from Detroit, Michigan. We grew up in two different countries and cultures, we met in New Zealand in 2007, and we have both lived in Arizona for the past five to six years. As a result of all of this cobbled background story, we had a relatively complicated wedding in a relatively obscure location, with a geographically diverse guest list. My favorite part was seeing so many important people from our pasts in the same place at the same time – it will certainly never happen again. Sure, some of Kiran’s friends and family lived right down the street from our wedding events, but many did not! People from all over Canada, America, and even India traveled many miles to be with us during our celebration, and it meant a lot. Several people who would never have known one another were brought together because of our wedding, and it was very surreal to watch. Kiran and I are happy to have found each other, but we also know that we have been surrounded by amazing people for our entire lives, and we were so happy to celebrate with them.”

Kiran shared some of her favourite moments with me: “There were so many amazing things about our wedding, so it is hard to pick just a few moments that were my favorite. Besides the obvious of being able to marry Eric (not once but twice) surrounded by our family and friends from all over the world, I think my favorite moments were watching our family and friends embrace our very different cultures. For Eric and his family (and many of our guests), they had never been to an Indian wedding before. In preparation for the wedding, we watched my cousin’s wedding video, but obviously the real deal was very different. On the other side, my parents had never participated in a Christian ceremony. Both of our families did a wonderful job handling the responsibilities that came with two wedding ceremonies and many other pre-wedding events. I am so happy with how everything turned out, and feel so honored that so many wonderful people joined in our four-day celebration. ”

Kind Words. Edmonton Wedding Photographer Reviews.

Edmonton wedding photographer reviews blog post

I photographed so many incredible weddings this past year and got a chance to work with many awesome couples! All who are beautiful inside and out. One of the best parts of being a wedding photographer is hearing from my Brides and Grooms about their wedding photography experience after the big day. When they share their kinds words with me it truly makes my heart happy. Here are some of my favourites Edmonton wedding photographer reviews from 2017:

wedding photos at Yellowhead Brewery

“Lauren is absolutely amazing! She is fun, friendly, and a complete professional to work with. I did a lot of research on Edmonton photographers prior to meeting with Lauren. One of the most important things for our wedding was to make sure that we had beautiful, timeless photographs that my husband and I could look back on over the years and remember our special day. We definitely ended up with them! My husband and I were both very nervous to be in front of the camera, but Lauren provided perfect direction and had us feeling comfortable and at ease in no time! She helped us plan & choose locations for an amazing engagement session on a beautiful autumn evening.  The photos turned out amazing.

On our wedding day, Lauren’s calm presence really helped keep me us ease.

She even rescued us when our limo driver missed a turn and got lost! She captured every moment of the day exactly how we remembered it. It was also awesome having her stay later into the reception to capture everyone’s happy faces on the dance floor! We have received so many compliments on how beautiful & fun all of our wedding photos turned out. They are even more perfect than we could have imagined – we could not be happier! Choosing Lauren as our photographer was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Her pricing is extremely competitive for the length of time we had her (& second shooters) on our wedding day, as well as the high-quality photos! My husband and I HIGHLY recommend Lauren Hannah Photography!”

“Lauren (and her co-shooter) were awesome! We had a destination wedding, so we weren’t able to meet with her in person until the day of the wedding, but got to know her through webcam chats and phone calls. She did a great job with our ceremony and reception and took us to some beautiful places for additional photos. She was easy to work with and our photos came out beautifully, all at a very reasonable cost. We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a photographer.”

“Lauren and her partner are absolutely fabulous! We met them at our friend’s wedding, and quickly realized how professional and yet friendly and relaxed they were. What I couldn’t have known then is how wonderfully talented she is too!! The creativity and skill is off the charts. You will not regret hiring her for your wedding, I promise you! And her prices are so reasonable that you can capture more of your special day!

We did a destination ceremony for our wedding, but were throwing a reception dinner & party for our friends and family back at home on New Years Eve too. At first we weren’t going to hire a photographer for the reception but now I am so glad we asked Lauren. Neither my husband or I are naturally photogenic – we usually seem posed and awkward! Lauren made us instantly relaxed and comfortable, capturing the true emotions between us.

During the party, they were so much fun! At times, they blended right in so people hardly knew they were there, and then there were others where it felt like paparazzi on the dance floor! It was absolutely perfect and they knew exactly how to flow with and capture the energy of the room. Every time I thought “Oh I should get a picture of this moment” I would no sooner think it and there they were already. They got the most beautiful, natural pictures of us and all our loved ones and friends. I am so grateful that they were willing to give up their New Years Eve to work with us! We had such a great time with them and now have wonderful keepsakes to remember it by.”

“I can’t say enough good things about Lauren!! She is an incredibly talented photographer but on top of that, she is so much fun, so personable and just an amazing all around person.

My Husband and I researched many photographers before making our final decision and after meeting with her, we felt so comfortable and knew we had made a great decision. And after seeing our beautiful photos from our engagement session, we knew 100% we made the right decision!!

Any photographer who can get amazing pictures of a couple while riding a Harley down a highway is obviously good at what they do!

Lauren and her assistant went above and beyond the entire day not only to capture special moments but also to ensure everything was perfect. She has such an eye for detail and was so much fun to be around that day!! I can’t say enough good things about her and would recommend her 100%, believe me you won’t be sorry you chose her!! Our sneak peek photos of our wedding day made me cry, they’re INCREDIBLE!! I can only imagine what the rest will look like!! Best photographer ever!”

“Lauren did an amazing job for our wedding. She was very detail oriented and took the time to get to know us and what we were looking for. We had an awesome session with her for our engagement shoot and even involved our pup! Lauren and her team were amazing on our wedding day. They were on time and super professional.

Would recommend her for anyone looking for intimate, candid, fun, great pics!”

“Lauren photographed my wedding in October 2017. She was extremely professional and reliable from start to finish, while also being super fun to work with.

Both my husband and I agreed that the best part of our day was bridal party photos with Lauren. It was fun, relaxed, and the only totally stress-free part of the day. Lauren was easily my favourite professional that I worked with on my wedding, and our pictures exceeded my expectations. I would recommend her again and again!”

“We hired Lauren for our wedding after one of our friends in the area had her wedding photos done by Lauren and we loved the way she had captured their day. Lauren was very professional to deal with and was a great help in dealing with us via email as we were living overseas during the wedding planning stages. During the pre-wedding she asked for suggestions on photos we would like to capture and kept this in mind to ensure we didn’t get caught up in the moment of the day and miss out on these opportunities. During the wedding Lauren and her assistant were great to work with and we had a blast going to the various sites to take pictures. The prints came out better than we had expected and they were delivered to us in the promised time-range on our contract.

Overall, I would recommend Lauren to anyone looking for a fun-loving photographer who has a great eye for photography.”

Fun Edmonton Wedding Photographer

“Lauren did an incredible job with our wedding photography. We hired her for the day, and actually only met with her once prior to the ceremony during an insanely busy moment in our lives. She was attentive, patient, and she immediately understood what type of photos we were hoping for. This was clear when we received the photos. She was able to capture amazingly candid shots of many of our family and friends and did a great job documenting the day. She and her co-shooter were very easy and flexible to deal with throughout the day. Lauren also was very much willing to work within our budget constraints and desires. We would without hesitation recommend her.”

Emily & Anthony. Winter Wedding at Sherwood Park Log Cabin.

Sunset photo of bride and groom

I got the chance to capture Emily and Anthony’s winter wedding in Sherwood Park. So many things made this wedding awesome: A great venue at the Sherwood Park log cabin, super stylish couple, beautiful details and of course there was the killer reception that had everyone dancing well into the night. But mostly this day was so great thanks to the couple themselves. Emily and Anthony are kind, fun loving and an incredible match.

Avery & Cam. The Matrix Hotel Wedding.

Edmonton Wedding photographer

I am so excited to share some of my favourites from Avery & Cam’s big day. Their Matrix Hotel wedding was an absolute blast and I loved being a part this awesome couple’s day. They say fall in love with someone who makes you laugh and this couple has found that in each other. Avery and Cam is a couple who is constantly laughing and having fun together. I saw that on their fun engagement session and their wedding day was no different.  From giggling and holding each other after the ceremony to cracking up during their wedding photos these two a have a beautiful connection.

Yellowhead Brewery Wedding

Vanessa & Will’s wedding this July was incredible. They had a sweet ceremony at Hastings Lake Gardens and an awesome reception at Yellowhead Brewery.  I’ve been looking forward to this adorable couple’s wedding since I got to know them better at their engagement session last fall. They are so kind, down to earth and adventurous and their wedding day was romantic and fun from beginning to end.

Had such a great engagement session with Avery & Cam this spring. They are an incredibly fun and one of a kind couple and it was such a pleasure to get to know them better.  I also got to meet their pup Hobbs with his larger than life personality! It was adorable to watch him happily carry around this stick which was twice his size.

Emily and Tony are super sweet and playful together. They easily made each other laugh and chatted throughout our engagement session. Often they were in their own world or sharing a private joke as I shot. Which suited me perfectly as I enjoyed catching a giggle from Emily and the twinkle in Tony’s eye when he looked at her.

It also made their Millcreek engagement session a lot of fun!  I really enjoyed spending the evening with these two and getting to know them a bit better. We had to reschedule a few times in April due to the weather however we finally got a beautiful evening.

Kind Words. Edmonton Wedding Photographer.

Edmonton wedding photographer

2016 was an amazing year for me and it is all thanks to my wonderful couples! As an Edmonton wedding photographer one of the best parts of my job is hearing how happy my couples are after they get their photos back! Their kind words fill me with such gratitude and remind me how lucky I am to be able to document their love. Here are just some of those testimonials from this past year.

wedding party hangs out in a pub in Edmonton

“We had Lauren capture our fall wedding in October 2016. We had been referred to Lauren by a family member and we absolutely loved her! From our first meeting, to engagement session, to wedding day we could not have asked for a better experience. Lauren was extremely professional and easy to work with. She pays close attention to details such as centering photos, capturing unique angles/moments, and incorporating architecture/landscapes into the photos- which was something we got a lot of compliments on and really appreciated! Lauren was sure to get all the photos on our wedding day that we had requested, and provided us with just the right amount of direction which made the day run smoothly and put us at ease. We ended up getting an unexpected snow fall the weekend of our wedding and Lauren was very helpful in keeping us calm, and managing to capture photos that we didn’t even think would be possible! We were so happy with the final results and the ability to have access to our photos at the end (and in great time!). Her pricing is also extremely competitive for the quality of photo and the time you get to spend with her and her second shooter, which is another reason we went with her. We were sad when the day was over, but are hoping we can come up with another excuse to work with Lauren again in the future! Highly recommend her photography!”

“The search for our wedding photographer was quite strenuous. Meeting many amazing photographers made the choice very difficult until we met Lauren. After our meeting with her we knew she would be the one to capture our special day. Our engagement session with Lauren went perfect! We were worried about how comfortable we would feel in front of the camera. Arnold and I aren’t the type of people who love to get their photos taken but Lauren made us feel at ease and we ended up having a blast! After our engagement session we were so excited to see the work she would do for our wedding. Having our wedding in the fall was something we wanted but we were very nervous about the weather. Sure enough, the forecast called for rain on our day. Lauren immediately opened the channel of discussion for indoor venues and gave us many suggestions. Luckily, the weather cleared up shortly after our ceremony although it was freezing. Lauren braved the cold with our wedding party to take some incredible shots. You can truly feel her passion for photography and it definitely shows in the results. We cannot thank Lauren enough for all the special moments she captured for us on the most important day of our lives. We will treasure those captured moments forever. We will always highly recommend Lauren. Her work is amazing, but once you met her, you’ll see how she stands out among the rest. ”

“Booking Lauren Hannah as our photographer was definitely the best decision we made regarding our wedding. She was great with communication, was tremendously helpful with choosing locations, makes you feel comfortable when taking photos, but most of all, Lauren made the experience fun for us. She takes extremely beautiful photos that we love; we were so blessed to have such an amazing person capture our wedding day for us!”

We honestly could not have chosen a better person as our engagement and wedding photographer.”

“I had found Lauren on wedding wire and her 5 star reviews do not lie. What I loved about Lauren’s photos from other couples were those honest little moments that she caught and I did not think she would fit into our budget. Needless to say I was thrilled when I found out that she would.

She stayed with us all day starting with us getting ready to the dance where she caught some really great memories. When I had met with her I told her how important it was for us to get candid shots between us and with our friends and family. She did not disappoint and when we got our pictures back I was actually shocked at how many of our guests she managed to capture, things that we would not have seen otherwise. She took some really lovely formals as well and the great part was it wasn’t awkward posing for our pictures. When I look back at our pictures now I see the story that she was able to tell and the magic from our wedding day will forever live on in them. She truly became a part of our day along with her second shooters. Not only is Lauren a professional she is a great person to be around and an especially calming presence for a bride.”

“Lauren was our wedding and engagement photographer this year for our Fall wedding. We loved working with her and loved the results from both sessions. She was so easy to get along with and just great to work with all around. We’ve had so many compliments on our photos and we have only posted a few so far! The photography was one of the top things on my list as when you look back in years to come the photos are what really keep the memories of that day alive. We’re so happy we went with Lauren and would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone looking for an amazing Edmonton wedding photographer!”

I met Robin & Mark in Jasper for an amazing engagement session in the mountains! This Jasper engagement session was epic! We started the session by hiking the beautiful Wilcox Pass near Columbia Ice Fields to get to some amazing views and gorgeous landscape. Robin and Mark were engaged on this very hike on recent camping trip so this spot is not only beautiful but has special meaning to them as a couple. It was so great to hear about their engagement story and relive that with them as we hiked the very same spots they had on that special day.

Why choose full day wedding coverage? Edmonton Wedding Photographer.

black and white portrait by Edmonton Wedding Photographer

I always encourage couples to book full day coverage with their wedding photographer. In fact, all my packages include 12 hours. Of course there are some couples who only need partial day coverage, but for most weddings, I believe full day coverage is the best option because it allows your wedding photographer to capture the entire story of your wedding day from start to finish. It also gives you more flexibility and allows for greater spontaneity in how the day unfolds. Here are three reasons why I think choosing a full day wedding package is so valuable:

Edmonton wedding photographerBanff wedding photos at Lake Minnewanka

1. Tell the story of your wedding day!

bridal prep by Edmonton wedding photographerBride prep at hotel in Edmonton

I love capturing fun moments like this one during Jessica & Tim’s wedding.

Edmonton wedding photographer

On the day of the wedding, I prefer to start when the couple is getting ready and to shoot well into the reception. This way, when you look back on your wedding photos, you will remember the day as a whole, from beginning to end. By the time the bride and groom are getting ready for their big day, my work is already well underway. I love being there to capture those special and intimate moments that take place before the ceremony. The morning is also a great time to capture detail shots of items such a jewelry and clothing, and it’s always a lot of fun to see close friend and family interacting before the big event.

Your wedding photographer can do some beautiful bridal portraits before the ceremony!

Bridal portrait by wedding photographer

I love getting a few minutes with the bride just after she gets dressed. I love the those unique moments with an excited and thoughtful bride before she says her vows like this shot I got of Angie during her wedding at Rimrock Resort!

2. Reception photos that rock!

We wouldn’t have gotten this great shot of Rich and his guys singing along to their favourite song if we had just left after the first dance.

Banff Wedding photographerFun reception pictures by Edmonton wedding photographerFun reception pictures by Edmonton wedding photographerFun reception pictures by Edmonton wedding photographer

While some photographers might finish shooting after the first dance or when the formal reception program is complete, I prefer to stay well into the night. Some of the best photos come after guest start to loosen up and participate in the reception. We are able to get some great candids of guests dancing, laughing, interacting and celebrating with you!

Having more coverage at the reception allowed us the capture this Bride’s Ukrainian dance group taking part in the tradition of dancing the Kolomeyka!

3. More time to get all the photos you want!

Like these images with the Bride’s beloved horse during her wedding in Chauvin.

Edmonton wedding photographer captures the bride with her horse

I always recommend that couples create a timeline for their wedding day and that it allows for at least two hours for portraits. With full day wedding coverage we will have more time for all the photos that you want to take, including candids, portraits, family photos, reception coverage and everything in between. Having your wedding photographer around for the whole day means not only that you will have more time to schedule in everything that is important to you, but also that there will be more “wiggle room” in terms of how the day unfolds, meaning more time for you to really enjoy the day!

5 Reasons to do an Engagement Shoot. Edmonton Engagement Session Photographer.

Engagement shoots are one my favourite types of sessions to photograph because it allows me to get to know my couple better, make them feel more comfortable in front of the camera and they are are a lot of fun. I always encouraged my clients to book an engagement session with me and here are some of the reasons why I feel it is a really important investment!

Reasons to do an engagement session with your wedding photographer:

nighttime Edmonton engagement session

1. It’s a great way to connect with your photographer and to help them get to know you better.

An engagement session allows your photographer to get to know you as a couple which can in turn create more personal images and all around better photos on the wedding day. You’ll also get to know your photographer and get a sense of how they shoot! On the wedding day it will be like having a friend show up to take photos!

Check out Vanessa & Will’s Edmonton fall engagement shoot!

We can even grab a coffee together during the shoot 🙂

2. Get comfortable in front of the camera!

If you’ve never been photograph by a professional photographer you may be unsure of what to expect. The engagement session helps to get those nerves out of the way before the big day. Most of my couples remark after the shoot that they thought they would feel really awkward and stiff but that in fact they felt comfortable, relaxed and had a great time with us. I love hearing that!

I love that Emily & Tony brought their Oilers Jersey to our Millcreek engagement session.

Nothing is more chill than hanging in a hammock.

Kirk & Ryan’s session was super modern and fun!

3. Celebrate your engagement.

It’s an exciting time and why not document that before you are married? You’ll also be able to use these images on your save-the-dates and invitations. Plus, getting photos done in more casual clothes means you’ll get a different, less formal set of photos to look back on! I try to make my sessions like a date night out but with a photographer. In fact, when couples ask me what to wear that’s exactly what I tell them: something they would wear on a date night together.

4.  More flexibility.

On the wedding date we may be limited by time and geography. Engagement sessions can be done at different locations that are special to the couple. I’ve done shoots at family farms in the country, in the mountains and other special spots that were sentimental to the couple. These are places we may not have been able to go to on the wedding day. Of course, there are also a ton of amazing spots for an Edmonton engagement session !

We had some fun at the fair during Avery & Cam’s session!

We personalized Stephanie & Will’s engagement shoot by incorporating his motorcycles!

Another consideration is that on the wedding day we may be limited for time. During the engagement session we have more flexibility in terms of the amount of locations we can go to.

Erika & Andrew had their first date at Remedy Cafe so we included it in the shoot (before indulging in some chai lattes)!

Lena and Mike headed on the water in this old canoe which has passed down through the generations. So glad we got to use it in their session!

5. This is a great day do your makeup trial.

If you’re planning on doing a make-up trial you might consider booking it for the same day as your engagement session. That way you are able to see how your makeup will photograph on the wedding day

5 reasons to do a First Look on your wedding day! Edmonton Wedding Photographer.

A “First look” or “Reveal” is when a couple meets privately before their ceremony, thus breaking with the tradition of not seeing each other until the actual I do’s. For some couples, not seeing each other before the ceremony is really important. However, for others a First Look is a really great opportunity to get some wonderful images, have a special moment together, and streamline their wedding timeline/schedule. I’m always excited when couples tell me that they’re considering doing a First Look because I absolutely love photographing them!

Here are my top 5 reasons for doing a first look:

1. A First Look makes for beautiful photographs

First looks are emotional and beautiful. I love the look of delighted, surprised or teary-eyed smiles that appear on bride and groom’s faces when they do a reveal. Those are incredible moments to photograph! I also I don’t think it ruins that moment of seeing your spouse-to-be walk down the aisle. I’ve seen brides and grooms cry at both the first look and then again at the ceremony! There’s tons of excitement in that moment even after doing a First Look.

Leah and Brendan’s Reveal makes my heart melt

2. Streamlining your timeline

By doing a First Look we are often able to get a chunk of photos done before the ceremony. That way you can have your cocktail hour or reception immediately after or very soon after the ceremony. Not only does this simplify your timeline, but it also makes it so that guests aren’t left wondering what to do in the hours in between the ceremony and reception.

3. You get to share a moment just the two of you before saying “I do”

Often with the hustle and bustle of the day, couples barely get a moment to themselves. Doing a First Look is a chance to be together and share your excitement before the ceremony. Of course there’s the photographer and second shooter there as well, but I promise we’ll give you space and time to just have a minute to yourselves.

See Jolene and Marc’s sweet first look here!

4. It’s a chance to see each other all dressed up for the first time in a more intimate way

Sometimes with the anticipation of walking down the aisle you don’t get a chance to really take in the scene and appreciate the moment. The first look is more intimate in that sense. That is also why I always recommend that the First Look be done with just the bride and groom not with the bridal party or family present.

Jessica was so excited to see Tim! You have to see their lovely fall wedding!

5. Your photos are done before the ceremony

With many of your photos done before the ceremony you’ll have more time to relax and fully enjoy the ceremony and reception. Awesome, right?

After Gabi & Neil’s first look we wandering around Whyte Avenue for portraits of the couple and the wedding party. After their ceremony they were able to enjoy the cocktail hour with their guest before moving right into the reception!

bride walks down stairs towards groom during reveal

Of course all that being said, the First Look is not for everyone. For some couples they’d rather not see each other until the ceremony. Each couple is unique and each wedding should be a reflection of that.

p.s. There are also some fun alternatives to First Looks such as doing a Reveal with your bridesmaids or parents before the ceremony….

Bandana the Dog. Rescue Dog Story.

FunEdmontonWeddingPhotographer

For those of you that follow me on social media, you know that my rescue dog Bandana is very close to my heart and a big part of my life. And if you do follow me on social media, I apologize because you’ve been bombarded with photos of him almost daily! However, Bandana came into my life unexpectedly and because it is his birthday, or rather his “adoption day,” today I thought I would share the story of how he came to Canada and, well, came to live with me.

rescue dog wear bandana and birthday hat

There was still snow on the ground last March because, similar to what happened this year, in Edmonton we were “Blessed” with a second winter. My lucky sister was on vacation in Nicaragua and one day I got a phone call from her all teary and upset. She told me there was a dog there who had been following her around and how sweet he was. She has two dogs herself so it broke her heart to see this dog without a home. Of course I was sympathetic. Being a huge animal lover it always pains me to see that too. But I didn’t expect her to ask “well, will you take him?” I was a little shocked that she suggested that I bring this dog all the way from Central America to Canada but at the same time I felt I couldn’t say no.

rescue dog living in Nicaragua

Of course she said she would have to find this dog again tomorrow if she wanted to, in fact, rescue him. She had met somebody who could put her in contact with the local rescue group but that it would be her job to actually catch him in order to start the process of taking him home. It all hung on whether she could actually find him the next day before she had to board the ferry in order to catch a flight to another island.

A rescue dog walks up path

Fast forward to the next afternoon and I get a text from her saying that she had lost him and that she would now have to head to the ferry without him. That’s when I knew I really wanted him deep down inside because my heart sank. Even though I haven’t even seen a picture of him he already felt like he was my dog. Lo and behold with literally minutes to spare before they have to catch the ferry they managed to slip the leash around him. Well, I can’t say a leash — it was just a piece of rope. So began the long and treacherous process of bringing him to Canada. It started with a visit to the vet followed by ferry ride and a very long flight all the way from Nicaragua.

rescue dog wearing a red bandana walks on log

When he finally did arrive we had to pick him up from a huge cargo building and he was visibly traumatized from not only a long journey but then being stuck in this loud echoey building in a crate. At home he kept making these little whining sounds once we had taken him out of the crate. We thought he was quite upset or confused but now we know that this is his way of talking to us and telling us that he is extremely happy. It’s pretty funny.

rescue dog lays on dog bed

A few weeks after we got him we discovered another one of his quirks. One evening I found him in a hamper that was on the floor with a few towels in it. I thought that was pretty hilarious. Little did I know that he would take up this hamper as his permanent place and that he would literally sleep in it every night.

Here is a photo (taken on my phone) of him in smiling in his hamper.

rescue dog sleep in hamper

From the very beginning he came with an array of medical problems that we didn’t know about until he arrived. This included finding out that he had a cancerous lump on his foot. We thought he was done for but he has strived through all the challenges and came out on the other end. He is also a very timid guy and so there is lots of work ahead with training which has been, in fact, a lot of fun (I am a big nerd for agility and dog training).

rescue dog stands on top of mountain

It’s been stressful and not cheap and some people may not understand sticking with it but this little guy has stolen my heart and become my best friend, running partner, and the source of a lot of laughter. I love the quote that says ‘Until one has loved an animal a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.”

I am beyond excited to share this gorgeous fall wedding on the blog. From the very first moment to the reception at Windermere Golf Club it was romantic, pretty, fun and gushing with emotion. Mary and Jason were married on a cool day in early October. It might have been a chilly one but these two kept each other warm all day long. They are so adorable together and have so much love for each other !

Ben & Alwin. Toronto Wedding photography. Hart House Wedding.

Ben and Alwin’s wedding day was one of the most fun and memorable I’ve had the pleasure of photographing. A day full of very personal touches, a ton of love, a few happy tears and a lot of laughter. It was a true celebration of family and the couple’s partnership. I am so happy that I got to be a part of such a beautiful day. Hopefully I have created some images that help Ben and Alwin remember this special time in their relationship for years to come.

From the start the day was laid back and relaxed. The couple got ready together along with their brothers. A chance to capture intimate moments shared between the couple as well as the strong connection shared between them and their brothers.

We took the subway to the wedding which made for a fun backdrop for photos. Ben and Alwin stopped along the way to put up signs leading the wedding guests to the reception site. Each brightly coloured sign read “Uncle Ben & Uncle Alwin’s Wedding”. The signs were made by the couple’s nieces and nephews.

The wedding ceremony was held at St. Paul’s Church in downtown Toronto, a beautiful historic building. Family was a big part of the wedding day. Ben’s sister led the beautiful wedding service.

After the ceremony the wedding guests were led by Ben and Alwin for a short walk through downtown Toronto to the reception site which was at the Hart House on the University of Toronto campus.

A surprise choreographed first dance, full of energy and a ton of fun!

So happy to have been a part of Nicole and Matt’s Stony Plain wedding this fall. In spite of the chilly weather these two were all smiles and they were laughing and enjoying each all through the day. Kind words from Nicole & Matt: “Lauren photographed my wedding in October 2017.
